Server-Side Tracking — Accurate Data. Smarter Decisions. Better Ad Performance.
What Is It?
Server-side tracking is a modern method of collecting website and conversion data that bypasses the limitations of traditional browser-based tracking. Instead of relying solely on cookies and JavaScript pixels (which are blocked by ad blockers, browser privacy settings, and iOS restrictions), server-side tracking sends data directly from your server to platforms like Google Analytics, Facebook, and Google Ads — giving you more complete, accurate, and reliable data.
Who Is This For?
- E-commerce brands running Facebook, Google, or TikTok ads who need accurate conversion data
- Businesses that have noticed discrepancies between their actual sales and what their ad platforms report
- Companies that rely on data to make marketing decisions and can’t afford to work with incomplete numbers
- Any business impacted by iOS privacy changes or ad blocker data loss
What’s The Problem I Solve?
Since Apple’s iOS 14 update and the rise of ad blockers, standard pixel-based tracking misses a significant portion of conversions — sometimes 30–50% of actual events. This means your Facebook Ads manager might show 20 purchases when you actually had 40. Your ad platform then optimizes based on wrong data, your ROAS looks worse than it is, and your budget decisions are built on a broken foundation. Server-side tracking fixes this.
How I Do It
1. Tracking Audit
First, I audit your current tracking setup — pixels, tags, analytics, and conversion events — to identify exactly where data is being lost and what needs to be fixed or rebuilt.
2. Google Tag Manager (GTM) Setup
I set up or restructure your Google Tag Manager container with clean, organized tags and triggers for all key events — page views, add to cart, initiate checkout, purchase, form submissions, phone clicks, and more.
3. GA4 Implementation
I implement Google Analytics 4 with proper event tracking, conversion goals, e-commerce tracking (if applicable), and custom dimensions — so you have a clear, complete picture of how users interact with your website.
4. Meta Conversions API (CAPI) Integration
The Meta Conversions API sends conversion data directly from your server to Facebook — independently of the browser pixel. This means Facebook receives your conversion data even when the pixel is blocked. The result is more complete data, better audience optimization, and improved ad performance.
5. Google Ads Conversion Tracking
I set up accurate Google Ads conversion tracking — ensuring every lead form submission, purchase, phone call, and key action is properly attributed to the right campaign, ad group, and keyword.
6. TikTok Events API (if applicable)
Similar to Meta CAPI, TikTok’s Events API sends conversion data server-side — improving data accuracy for TikTok Ads campaigns.
7. Testing & Validation
Once everything is set up, I rigorously test every tracking event using platform debugging tools — GA4 DebugView, GTM Preview, Meta Events Manager, and Google Tag Assistant — to make sure data is flowing correctly before going live.
8. Documentation & Handover
I provide clear documentation of your entire tracking setup so you (or your team) understand exactly what’s been implemented and how to manage it going forward.
